Origin rep Hanisi to join the Sharks in 2024

The Sharks have added to their formidable forward stocks for the upcoming NRLW season with the signing of NSW State of Origin representative Filomina Hanisi.

The dynamic 23-year-old, who played for the Broncos in 2023 after stints with the Roosters and Eels, has joined Cronulla on a one-year deal.

Hanisi made the first of her two NSW appearances in 2020 - scoring a memorable try off the bench on debut - and has proven to be a reliable performer at the top level.

"Mina is a tremendous player who will bolster the depth in our front row,” Sharks NRLW head coach Tony Herman said.

"Having played in the State of Origin arena and an NRLW grand final, she brings big-game experience to our squad and will take up an important role in season 2024.”

The addition of Hanisi comes after prop Ellie Johnston re-signed with the Sharks until the end of 2026, while fellow Cronulla forwards Rhiannon Byers and Chloe Saunders also recently inked new contracts.

More signing announcements are in the works ahead of the season kicking off in July.
